The Curiosity Approach

The ‘Curiosity Approach’, an exciting new child development approach designed to inspire young minds and create the curious thinkers and doers of the future. We are delighted to say we are a ‘Curiosity Approach’ accredited setting.

What a transformation…

At this nursery we do things a little differently. Our nursery is filled with authentic treasures and open-ended materials; the sort of objects you just wouldn’t see at other nurseries! You won’t find bold primary colours all over the walls, but instead natural objects and neutral tones. The plastic toys found in many nurseries have taken a back seat in our nursery, replaced with ‘things’ designed to spark imagination and awaken creativity.  In the home corner, you’ll find china cups, rotary dial telephones, real fruit and vegetables…real objects that open up a whole new world of opportunities to learn. The walls are filled with vinyl records, sparkling lights and the odd bicycle wheel, amongst an array of other unusual objects!

Curious Children…

The impact of the curious new environments alongside our team’s understanding of how to get the best from them has led to a number of positive outcomes, not only in terms of the children’s learning and development but also, we’ve found improvements in the calmness and general behaviour of our children.

It’s not just the children…

Our team at the nursery are always on the look out to find the unusual objects that will encourage children to be curious and develop their creativity, independence, confidence and problem-solving skills. Staff are involved with the nursery’s ongoing transformation, creating curious displays, gather interesting objects and seeing the creative opportunities for the nursery in places that they wouldn’t usually.
