Youngsters at Woodlands Park Private Day Nursery and Forest School brought in toys from home and loaded them onto a van to be sold at the charity’s shop in Bradford.

The donations filled 30 bags, which the British Heart Foundation say will raise £400 for heart and circulatory disease research.

British Heart Foundation rep Sharon Shields said:

“On behalf of everyone at the British Heart Foundation, I would like to say a huge thank you to Woodlands Park for taking the time to host their ‘Spare a Toy, Share the Joy’ event.

“We collected 30 bags filled with beautiful items which will be sold to raise money for vital research.

“Over half a million people in the UK are living with heart failure, there are around 7million people living with heart and circulatory disease in the UK and 1 in every 180 babies are born with congenital heart disease.

“The money the children at Woodlands Park have raised will go on to help these people. They are life savers, literally!”

Woodlands Park Nursery Manager Heidi said:

“We take part in regular fundraisers to help the children gain a sense of community and helping others, which is so important for their emotional and social development.

“As soon as we explained to the children what their toys would be used for, they were more than happy to give them away.

“They were actually very excited to go home and pick out what they thought someone else might like to buy.

“We’re very proud of how generous our children have been, and would like to thank their parents for the kind donations too.”

Woodlands Park Private Day Nursery is part of the Just Childcare family of day nurseries, providing exceptional care and education for children aged 0 – 5.
